Dear Intermediary,

We want to let you know about two exciting and practical changes to our mortgage process that will make it easier for you to identify the maximum loan Skipton is prepared to consider and speed up our Decision in Principle system.

You can count on our calculations

From Monday we are improving our affordability calculator. All you will need to do is key in your client's income and expenditure and the calculator will do the maths. It will then show you the results - as well as displaying the loan to value ratio for which they are eligible, according to our lending policy. This means you'll be able to quickly let your client know the maximum loan and LTV that we can offer them. Follow this link to take a look at a demo of our new affordability calculator.

Decisions, decisions

Over the last few months we've been making some big changes to our intermediary decision processes in order to make things easier for you. One such development we believe you'll really benefit from is our new two-stage decision in principle (DIP).

As you know, the current DIP process takes around 10 minutes, with you inputting client information to get an initial loan decision. Your feedback told us that this was too long.

So, we're pleased to say that we can now give you a first stage DIP in half the time. Starting on Monday 25 July, you will be able to enter just basic client information to get an initial DIP much quicker. Once you pass stage one, you will be asked for more information to complete the full DIP for the final decision. What's more, our decisions will last for 30 days, so long as there aren't any changes in your client's circumstances. And If the decision is referred to an underwriter, we aim to respond within two hours. Follow this link to take a look at a demo of our DIP.

At Skipton, we are committed to offering you outstanding personal service and our new affordability calculator and DIP process are just some of the ways in which we are listening to your feedback and working hard to make your dealings with Skipton as simple and effortless as possible.

We'd be keen to hear what you think of these changes and whether there is anything else we can be doing to help you benefit from doing more business with us. Please feel free to provide feedback to intermediarysales@skipton..co.uk.

Look out for our new lending criteria changes early next week.
